Aluminium Sulphate is a good starting point for the creation of pickles, a pre-tanning preparation used to open the fibers of a skin prior to tanning.

Pickles can be created using Alum and granular salt to achieve the correct pH - usually between 1.5 and 3.5.

Aluminium Sulphate can also be used as a preservative either in conjunction with other products or on its own. It is often used in preserving, pickling and tanning solutions. It is a very useful in solution to set hair and arrest the onset of bacteria in the short term.
